so here is what we did:
we made up these poor little kids

and not be in some play about
the importance of love
and david’s lack thereof
and then one of them dies
and no one really knows why
and it gets really sad
and david feels really bad
he starts blaming himself…
f-ck, no words rhyme with “self.”

but then you find out the narrator is part of the play
and you start to question everything in a serious way
you’re supposed to relate to it, and your own life
and then a character comes in who has been through it before
you realize vivian was with david before the war
the recursive nature of the play becomes clear

he was the one all along
we trapped him inside a song
and made him follow along

we thought this would work, would be a great idea;
the narrator’s bad, to tap into that fear
of god that all punks seem to have

the fact this song
can exist at all
is a testament to
just how smart we are
but in case you are dumb
here’s what everyone becomes:
we took his place
as the foe in the play
octavio’s the new lead
damian’s the new vivian
fu are octavium
ad infinitum

so octavio really isn’t that bad at all
since he’s come out of our heads, i’d say that he’s absolved
of all the things we made him do
it’s like in the matrix, how it all just resets
at the end of the series when they all forget
and neo’s name is written on that bench
