i get this feeling as if i were no good
likened to a yard stick shy of three feet
it’s like i compete against things that i choose to, or more likely, am nudged to consume
but singing that tune doesn’t ring true
when thought about irrespective of excuses
the external things bring that noise level to 11
below the surface, there rings a cacophony of internal monologues
and each one starts off like, at first dominant, and without any obstruction will continue to flow, twisting uncertainly, by external mеans, like a leaf in a stream

i once heard about this visualization technique that i’d use to fall asleep, it would help silence my brain’s scattered natter, into a sort of silent focus
it went something like this
i’d imagine sitting under a tree, near the water’s edge
there’s a steady breeze, and it wrestles with the leaves
then, eventually, one will fall into the water’s edge and float past my eye line
they are the voices that keep my mind awake, the choices i try to create when i fixate
but my gaze is my own aim
whether it be a tree, or water, or leaves in a stream
let me try and synthesize
as the zoroastrians would say: good thoughts, good words, good deeds
if my actions are the results of thoughts that i choose to materialize, then to follow a leaf is to become one, too
do i move helplessly in line and in pace with the flow?
it’s funny, a boat would also move in a similar manner
but, a boat has a rudder, and a conscious being as a driver
i suppose what i’m trying to say is the times that i feel measured by a yard stick that doesn’t fit are also the times when i lose my rudder, and i become just another leaf in the stream
