was a day that felt like one out of a dream
not a good one though, more like a nightmare
because i had to leave behind everyone
about whom i cared

the house was packed up, not a thing left
everything had been vacuumed, mopped, and swept
boxes everywhere, holding all the things
that i could take with me
and to those things i would cling

it was a wacky dress up day, everyone in costume
though i found it hard to laugh due to my extensive gloom
said all of my goodbyes, everyone was crying
and the school bell rang, i’d run all out of time
