stepping into the afterlife
your reality of truth cuts like a knife
as i joined in the gnashing t–th
your mercy melting through my grief
my wailing cried out “you are merciful”

every breath is a gift from god’s hand
without him how dare humanity think we can stand
every step we take shows god’s grace
can’t understand how he wins
keep in mind he created the race
we’re lost from before our first breath
we’re so far away
in his mercy he brings us home to stay

your mercy shows in every choice
but still i just ignore your voice
i’ll rejoice until the day i die
treat every day like paradise

my daily path, i planned the way
he gave me breath-i cursed his name
the truth was that he chose my path
my eternity was planned for wrath

the day arrives i will not see
that you are right in front of me
i choose to take my final breath
i close my eyes, embrace my death
even when you call me down
the gates of h-ll won’t steal your crown
it hurts to know you died for me
as i turned towards your eternity

your days and hours are always his
these words remain upon your lips
destruction or in paradise
mercy is the lord’s device

exodus 34:6‭-‬7
then the lord passed in front of him and proclaimed
yahweh yahweh is a compassionate and gracious god
slow to anger and rich in faithful love and truth
maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations
forgiving wrongdoing, rebellion, and sin
but he will not leave the guilty unpunished
bringing the consequences of the fathers’ wrongdoing
on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation
