“son of lir and chief of the tuatha de danan; this name comes from the ancient celtic word “bronnos,” which is defined as a “crow” or “raven.” it was quite instinctive that the welsh should have changed the name bron, whom irish legend had given them as the brother of manannán, into bran, that they might canonize him.”
