did it one time, now they crave the endorphins
constantly cloaking all of their scars

the stigma is real and don’t you ignore it
it’s hard enough with the pain they are storin’
don’t make it worse by judging their character
don’t treat them like a disease or a carrier
’cause, in the end, it’ll only build barriers
and make them feel like to trust is much scarier
so you’ve gotta learn the condition they’re in
and start working with them instead of against!

you think their emotions are easily managed
but inside their brains, there is an imbalance
their neuro-chemicals all outta wack
and you wonder why they can’t get back on track
i think you need to remind yourself that
those with depression are not psychopaths

and that goes for anyone dealing with
other mental illnesses or mental health struggles as well
the problem with the stigmas surrounding mental health is that
in order to truly understand what it’s like to deal with something or have something
you have to actually experience it yourself
but even within that, everyone’s experience is different
some people feel worse than others or are affected in different ways
so mental illness isn’t just a “one size fits all” type of thing
everyone who experiences it experiences it differently
and you could never fully understand what it’s like
unless you experience it firsthand
