lived in a small town, such a nice area
but just down the road was a little f-cking scarier
kids getting stabbed and my homies getting mugged
alcoholics everywhere; houses full of drugs
felt so blessed to be away from that sh-t
i’d spend countless hours in my room tryna spit
my parents shouted at me, crushing my dreams
at least i wasn’t out on the streets, smoking green
i remember one time, my homie got jumped
refused to give his money and he got f-cking thumped
6 ugly motherf-ckers versus just one
no-one knew what to do, so we had to run
the other kids dashed and were never to be found
we got back to my homie, he was getting f-cking clowned
getting called a p-ssy, ‘man, that was some weak sh-t!’
but it was our fault, i was too scared to admit
man, we could have helped him, we could have put up a fight
we could have helped our boy, man that sh-t would be tight
that’s just one of the memories that i have from those days
and that one memory stuck with me in so many ways
this song takes you deep into the maze that is my brain
these are the thoughts closest to me, a.k.a growing pains…
