leonardo de pallo became a rockstar overnight
from that week on, that whole summer everyone talked about leonardo in the worship service. it made the news. front page. these were some of the biggest news of back then. new artists weren’t always so easily accepted, but because it was tied to such a positive message the word rapidly spread and it became characteristic of the holy movement and christian science, so the people started calling it “christian music.”

however leonardo was a wild man, he didn’t really believe in the church at all. he was an atheist. he was convinced he knew the trickeries of this scheme. “it was all an act! the man had no back pain, he pretended he did to cause that reaction of the audience!” he would tell the youth who were curious to see where the light came from. where did this man with such fervor and p-ssion for the lord came from

“surely he must have been some very devout praying fearful of every commandment to have been blessed with that much musical talent!”
susan, tommy and breanna’s mom telling them how they should hang out more with leonardo because he’s a devout christian with a god fearing heart. “you can hear it in how he praises. hallelujah.”

they had to rehe-rs- for praise and worship a few days a week, so tommy and brianna, two of the church youth joined the choir ministry to sing along with him. they asked him when had he decided to follow jesus, and that’s how he answered: “i don’t believe in jesus. i believe in music, music is god no? the elemental composition of the atoms are not but a harmony played in the melodic strings on the lute of existence isn’t it?”

“he’s so romantic…” brianna said after sighing deeply
“i don’t think this is a follower of jesus brianna… i think the university brainwashed him. he doesn’t even believe in god… just talks about atoms and tiny particles.” tommy was smelling trouble. he was really his sister’s keeper, but he was younger than leonardo and now way less popular
“come on tommy… the bible says you gotta love thy neighbor right?” she was really into him. he was going to be the most prevalent member in the society thanks to his music… it happened every time she heard new music. her family was nice and poor, and she always dreamed of a man to sweep her up in a magical mistery chariot ride up to the heavens away from her troubles. “this is it.” she thought “he’s the one.” so her and leonardo looked at each other and just started making out. in the temple before practice. something that was absolutely prohibited to the church back then

no one saw except her brother who then whispered aggressively: “time and place!! this isn’t the time or the place!!”
leonardo looked at him and said: “i’m untouchable! my music prowess is needed here. my praise is the best. i’m the great one! god of music!”

he said that and everyone almost laughed to themselves. everyone except pastor mark, who couldn’t get why this was so funny all of a sudden

“hey leonardo we’re going to practice for the service? worship to the lord has gotta be done with seriousness, can’t be held in contempt for the lord. bible teaches us to be sinless and holy, cause he’s holy. it says “be holy for i am holy.”

“yeah right. right of course pastor holy we are! praise the lord! hallelujah! praise jesus!” and turned back to his christian self to play his christian music. which to him was only the latest hits he was composing that were going to lead him to be “greater than mozart, bigger than bach, the best musician in the universe.” he would say out loud in his room while sleeping and in the middle of a dream

to the holy movement, his music was god allowing him to have talent in order to be praised genuinely. that his music was the reflection of god’s purity and purpose. he had no idea what was going to come next
