when the attention’s turned
it’s all outstretched arms, with palms that overflow
if all eyes are elsewhere
then not an ounce of you would grapple with the notion of

on an isolated avenue
see a creature barely keeping up with its own heartbeat
but in delirium they stammer and though harmless, as is understood, you run, you run, you run, you run, you run
an incident alike
but now that fellow’s in amongst other fellows
who in turn redirect their sight
now will you commit your act of charity in daylight? thus edging, thus edging closer to

whilst there are physical embodiments
of those ticks, those ticks that are essential
if only when surrounded, do you feel truly proud

you’ve got to find the characters
whose acts consist of springs to mind
